My understanding is that electric motors are better than petrol engines, but liquid petrol is better than a lithium ion battery
Pretty much. Diesel trains use electric motors because they have significant advantages
But from empty to full, you can't beat filling a tank of gasoline.
If/when I can fill a tank with electricity in 2 minutes tops I won't care, although I will have to assume that in addition to all the helpful computer shit, there will be spyware, remote control/killswitch. I may not be capable of doing much work on a gasoline car, but I can't do ANY work on an electric car, and less on a computer
Depends on the application, a turbine engine most likely can't be beat for compact power output.
Correct. EVs are more energy efficient. Batteries are crappy for the application, are very expensive and energy intensive to create or replace, and basically mean cars won't be on the road after 15 years or so because of batteries. No one is buying a $5k-$8k car, and then spending another $20k in batteries, plus another several thousand to the car manufacturer for the privilege of them monitoring you, so you can use everything you already purchased. It destroys the used car market.
