$1000 says this Hollywood shit was all staged. Publicity stunt. Acting carried out by…wait for it..PEOPLE WHO ACT FOR A LIVING.
We talked about this shit in our morning meeting today. My boss is pretty based, which is nice, and he brought it up.
I pay no attention to Hollywood so I knew nothing of it until they filled me in.
Boss and I had the same position, which was “fuck around and find out, and Chris Rock found out”. I mean, you can’t berate another man’s wife on television (or even in a small group) and expect that man to do nothing.
The resident land whale liberal started going on and on about how “What will Smith did wasn’t right and it perpetuates black violence.”
I was like “yeah you’re right, he should have done a lot more than just slap him.” And then I said “it doesn’t matter if he is black or green or purple, any man should kick the shit out of someone for such an offense, period.”
Then I thought for a second and decided it was all staged. “The awards shows have been steadily failing and so they did something to get you talking about it today..and it worked,” I told them.
Then liberal land whale is like “no it wasn’t staged, you could tell that there was real emotion in what happened.”
I’m like listen land whale, do you know what all of those people do for a living? THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL ACTORS. Their ONE JOB IN THE WHOLE WORLD is to make you believe they’re living what they are acting out.
Then she says “well Chris Rock is a comedian, not an actor.”
I’m like lady, he’s been in many movies, first of all. He acts. And yes, comedians are actors, actually.
I think it broke her brain to consider that an actor might actually, you know, ACT ON A LIVE SHOW ABOUT ACTORS.
And to make it all worse..I work at a MARKETING FIRM. How in the fuck can you work in marketing and not notice marketing when it’s right in front of your face?
🤦
So yeah, my position is the whole thing was a publicity stunt. Fake and gay.
I don't think a 3 word joke fits into the category of berating.
It happened right at the beginning of the show.
Obvious ratings ploy is obvious.
Chris Rock made a very safe tame joke, which in no way called for physical violence. God forbid any of them have to endure the sheer psychological trauma of a roast! These celebrities should have thicker skin, but it goes to show the actual quality of character these entitled out-of-touch prima donnas have. Or like you said, it was scripted, and that we shouldn't trust people literally paid to lie convincingly.
I didn’t see it. All I know is what I heard. And what I heard was that one man made a crack about another man’s wife which included her medical condition and appearance.
I don’t where you’re from, but where I’m from that equals an an obligatory ass whooping.
But again, I think it was all fake and gay anyhow.
Agreed if that was what happened. I've only seen the quick cut because it's circulating. I thought Rock made a crack about her hair being short and related it to that movie GI Jane. Unsure if he knew anything about a medical condition. I think there could be lower blows than being compared to Demi Moore... Regardless, fake and gay. But hey, at least people around me weren't parroting leftist hot takes about Ukraine! I'll take it!
