I love how the local pols will say "oh no we didn't raise your property taxes, the tax rate hasn't gone up in years" while ignoring that the assessed values are skyrocketing.

Absolutely another sign of inflation. Unfortunately most people don't really pay attention to their property taxes since it part of their mortgage. Out of sight out of mind. When you're writing that check though. Fuck.. You notice.
Same thing with payroll taxes. A lot more people would take notice if it wasn't taking out of your pay and you actually had to mail a monthly check.

You’re right, most people don’t even realize the hosing they’re getting. Just paid mine, that shit hurts. Even more so when you see and don’t what you’re get’n in return for it. If you stop and think about all the taxes collected on a daily basis of every imaginable kind from every imaginable agency it’s hard to reconcile the persistent allowance of it. Fuck….is right.
