Softly take a deep breath or two between exchanges. It's important to think critically. You're not in a race to get your point out.

Am I attempting to convince this person to gain an ally? Do we have a reason to discuss this, or is this person just a fucking asshole with no potential worth? Take a few seconds (or minutes, or a day or two, depending on the situation) to think about what is being said, and then measure your response accordingly.

My older brother was always able to keep his cool when others got loud by slowing down and analyzing the situation and what was being said.

Yeah. I find I make the best decisions if I sleep on them.

As for the ally/worth, I know not every battle needs to be fought but we are fighting a war of information and people are getting injected with untested drugs. It's hard to just wait I guess.
