Everyday. You'll be amazed how often it comes in handy. I'd also recommend a small high output flashlight.
Since we're already at it: don't forget a gun, obviously; a lighter, replete with extra flint, fuel, and wick; a fire-starter'; a pen or pencil; a notebook (ideally waterproof); 100' minimum of 550 cord; a compass; a map; a few different kinds of sealed batteries; a whistle; a hatchet; a sleeping bag; a hammock; a tent; and a few grams of gold.
Anything less for an EveryDay Carry is no EDC at all.

You joke, but all of the vehicles in my family have everything on this list and more; and everything gets used with varying degrees of frequency.
I have a lot of those things on me everyday.
