I bought a bottle of "vegetable oil" from Costco thinking it would be good for baking. Get home and look at the ingredients: soybean oil.

Soy beans are not vegetables you fucking niggers! And even if they were, your selling fucking SOYBEAN OIL, not fucking vegetable oil!

For high temp cooking I typically stick with tried and true butter.

I also save the bacon grease when I make bacon and use that when a good opportunity arises. Like chopped cabbage fried in bacon grease, hot damn that's good stuff

Bacon has a lot of nitrates, and that's mostly in the fat. If you do that try to get the naturally cured stuff. You can also make clarified butter ("ghee") that's shelf stable by cooking butter in a crock pot and taking out all the cracklings. Those also make a good seasoning, if you go with unsalted butter.

You can get tallow or lard from nearly any butcher practically for free. They usually throw it out. If you can get it from a grass fed cow it's a health food, with as much Omega-3s and vitamins as any fish oil you'll find. Tallow does have a bit of a waxy feel though that you'll have to get used to, or just stick to pork fat.

Extra virgin olive oil has a low smoking point but it isn't all that bad to fry with it when compared to other oils.

There's a lot of fuckery in the food industry, but this one is on you. What vegetables would you possibly make oil with? All "vegetable" oils are seed oils, because seeds or nuts are the only thing you'd get any usable fat out of. While this is a marketing gimmick, it's been around for 100 years, so if you've actually been fooled by this you've got bigger problems.

Look at the ingredients of literally any oil based salad dressing. They all contain soybean oil, even the ones "made with" olive/avocado oil.
