Sounds reasonable to an extent. But if you don't drive then you're not buying gasoline. The gas tax in most states make up the majority of the budget for road maintenance. But then I have to ask if you ever use public transport? Get a ride from a friend? Use Uber or Lyft? Hell ride a bicycle? Then you're using said "service". But your burden on the system is way less than mine so you're already not paying as much as I am because you're not buying gas. I think a better argument would be not paying the public school tax if you don't have any kids or not paying into Medicare when you don't/won't get any benefit from the system.

That's pretty much what I just said. But what I also said is you use them LESS so your cost should be lower. And not paying a gas tax by not owning a car accomplishes just that. My argument against the public school is, well, they are shit. The quality of education our kids get is garbage. We would be better off to keep that money and spend it on a private education or a charter school of sorts. I know the difference between the quality of private/public for my kid was unreal. And in this day are you really comfortable sending children to gov run schools that fill their heads with woke BS & common core crap? Especially when the "teachers" are notoriously difficult to remove and lean further left than Lenin. Instead of the ABCs they teach CRT. Being involved if your kids education is far better.

Indirect beneficiaries cannot reasonably be expected to shoulder the costs of a good or service. The public benefits when I send my kids to private school, and yet the public doesn't help pay for that. The public benefits when I do my job and do it right, yet they don't pay me. I benefit from my neighbor keeping his house in good repair, yet I don't help him pay for it.
This is a totally specious argument employed by leftists to justify government-sanctioned theft of individuals' money.
98% of the damage to roads is done by truckers and the big loads carrying things like food, drinks, cloths, etc that everyone uses.

Roads are part of the Constitution. One of the few services actually mentioned in the document is the postal service. As a constitutional right, the postal service requires the use of roads. This is why the Constitution speaks of creating and maintaining roads for postal use.

No those ways are the absolute WORST way to pay for a road in current day. First the county sells the contract to someone else with taxpayer funds, only to triple tax the consumer at the end, with the gas tax, toll tax, and county income tax. Screw toll roads
you’re blaming a poorly implemented toll system, the idea of paying per use makes the most sense, eliminate the other taxes and just use tolls, you only pay for what you use, anyone who doesn’t go through the toll doesn’t pay, seems like the most fair by a long shot
