Because big tech wants to not rely on big oil, their energy costs too much. So by driving up the price of oil it will incentivse development of non hydrocarbon energy. Except if they don't make progress increased energy costs increase the cost of living. All the while they have a bunch of junk to show for it. The green energy has nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with big tech's bottom line.
