I remember the giant cookies you could get for a quarter, then next year it went up to 35 cents and I was pissed.
When I was in grade skrewl, the whole fucking lunch was 35 cents. A dime got you a chocolate milk.
I remember those exact prices. Mostly because there were times I couldn't meet them.
In grade school in the early 80s we got PacMan pizza. It was a small round personal pizza with a slice cut out and 1 pepperoni slice for an eye. They always served it with pineapple chunks and a chocolate chip cookie, and nearly everyone just crunched that up and put it all on the pizza.
Rich kid school
Nope, public school but the parents were super involved, and not in a bitchy demanding way. In fact, the lunch room monitors were volunteers who weren't even paid, it was just some kids' moms. Made the rest of the staff actually care. We only got it like once a month or less, I can't recall. But that was everyone's favorite day.
