I worked in the area during that time. I remember watching people walk in a zig-zag pattern from their car to walmart. People were REALLY afraid at the time. Lots of people I knew would drive like 30 miles away to Fredericksburg for shopping because they were so scared of being in an open parking lot. I remember it being one of the first times I ever told somebody that "if I die, I die, but I'm not fucking up my life by living afraid." Now with the vaccine B.S. and the masks and the lockdowns, I feel like I repeat something along that sentiment almost daily.
