I started by making websites for people for money. First site went for $500. Now I do them for ~$2,000. Although ironically it lead me towards SEO and SEM. I've gotten further away from coding than I initially thought I would. Although I am building my own company now. I guess that's a plus.

So yeah. Maybe try GitHub.

Work on your ping pong game, toy collection and star wars knowledge. That impresses the man-children in today's tech offices more than some programming language.
