We are in the process of collapse lol. Yeah it takes time but they all do. The barbarians are at the gates, our money is worthless, our people apathetic and gluttonous, our political institutions hollow corporate owned entities, and media stoking hate against everything except corporations and government.

US manufacturing is dead. The US consumer economy is dead without stimulus. The dollar dies faster with every note printed.

By "expansion" I mean "expansion of government" not of the nation. As nations collapse the government tends to grow more powerful and sometimes even grab more territory. It's a result of people being increasingly willing to trade liberty for security as times get hard.

Same thing happened to the Romans, their republic became corrupt and rotten, so it was replaced by an even more corrupt and tyrannous monarchy. Things didn't go all mad max immediately though, it took centuries for it to rot to the point of actual collapse.

I understand you mean't government expansion. I'm just saying that in economic collapse the only way failed governments remain in power is through force.

I think there is a lot of itchy trigger fingers in America atm. A government grasping for control through direct violence would be the nail in the coffin for itself.

I'd certainly like to see regular americans rise up, but I'm not sure what the tipping point could be given that they haven't already. Their government openly despises them and is attempting to replace/disarm them, but they're still paying taxes and hoping they can vote their problems away.
