Well, the Pope is the Bishop of Rome and a literal king over Vatican City, so wearing an exalted bishop's vestments is entirely appropriate. Paul VI and later JP2 eventually gave it up to return to a more Apostolic dress.
And many bishops should be sitting in sackcloth and ashes, begging for forgiveness for the sins of their nations and for those who participated in and covered up the sodomy scandal within the Church (no, it is not a pedo scandal, but a homosexuality scandal... go listen to E Michael Jones talk on the subject for better details). However, when serving in the Liturgy, it is fitting and proper that they should be dressed in proper vestments for the occasion.
I agree with the first paragraph, and I am delighted to see the mention of Jones.
Homosexuality is severely linked to personality and society, especially clerics, should be more alert about its dangers. It's almost as if the Lord's Prayer warns of temptations, which is any perversion including homosexuality. As a German, the amount of propaganda is insufferable. There is an extremely subversive religious newspaper that I later found out has someone with the first name Israel responsible for it…
Oh man, the German Church is in bad shape. There is talk about schism over sexual degeneracy issues, including communion for divorced and remarried as well as female clergy. The bishops have to be compromised or completely blind to not see that the traditionalist parishes are thriving while the modernist ones lie almost empty.
