It would perhaps invite attempted abuse however the algorithm would catch that easily. Everything working behind the scenes of this "effect" for the userbase remains unchanged.
Also the longer a joke continues the funnier it gets. Watching everyone turn into Qtards hoping one day for a return of the names, looking for white rabbits and hidden clues from a master promising gifts in return for obedience. Some say the names will never come back. Some say its coming back this april 11th-20th from a super secret important gold star anon.
Lol. I'd rather have usernames be permanent but it really doesn't affect me in a big way. Also, I know there are algorithms and admins dealing with problem accounts, but the user base reporting abuse is still a big part of that, is it not?
