Well you are shit out of luck, it seems he is just going through the motions which means the lesson is old and designed to teach brainlets. If you care about actually learning the material on your own practical experience is best, find a "real" database with reports and forms and read/play with it and make your own.

As long as you get at least one certification out of it (if the school does not test for it make sure YOU do) there is decent but mind numbing work to be found.

I have been doing as you suggested, and playing with databases. I don't think that I'll be doing this as a job though. I'm basically retired and wanted to use my GI Bill for something I'm interested in, plus they pay me a monthly wage just to attend and passing grades. I am more interested in "Ethical Hacking" and figured this would be a good start. It helps that I don't need to actually work I can do shit I want to do.

Sounds like you got a good plan, I just shared the advice because it helped me out years ago.

I realized one year into college I was paying more not to work when I could be making more than I was paying if I just started working. I already had a couple of certs and started working databases for a local drink plant. Ended up branching out from there.

The advice is appreciated, I like to hear from people actually doing IT work.
