Part of me agrees with you and part of me thinks corporations think they can automate everything and enslave us. Capital is no longer real, so they don't require money and people paying for goods and services. I'm happy to go into more detail about why this is.
There still are small corporations that require profit from real consumers. The too large to exist corporations don't require consumers anymore.
