Usually, you get enough thawing in the Arctic to open up a passable North West passage. Certain Arctic communities will receive resupply by ship, only at this time.
This is not Global Warming. This is the normal seasonal variation. As the Arctic now enters spring and summer, the Antarctic now enters it's cooling season, aka, fall and winter.. In the center of Antarctica right now, it's -58C , and that's pretty fucking cold. Antarctica is ADDING new ice right now.
By comparison, the center of Greenland is at -49C. Greenland is not melting either. Not yet. The vast majority of Greenland tends to stay well below zero all year round.
Al Gore promised palm trees, and Al Gore lied, deliberately, so they could raise your taxes to fight Global Warming, which does not exist.
