AFAIK, younger marriages were popular in the Southern USA.

I cant find the source now but there was a study of marriage age in 19 cent america that I saw and southern marriage ages were only slightly lower than northern ones. Like a year. For women it was like 22. Well past teens . I remember because l was arguing with some guy, maybe it was basedWolf? who was saying the average age was 14 or something and I called bullshit. It was only the aristocrats that married very young girls off probably to secure political and economic alliances. There also seems to be a long history in consensual marriage and love matches vs arranged marriage in europe.
