Plant a garden.

Food self sufficiency I think is key to weathering an economic crisis. Also access to fresh water.

As long as everyone has those we can continue to argue about the value of gold, bitcoin, currencies, so on and so forth.

What are your guy's thoughts? I was just thinking of something simple that everyone could do with the least amount of $$ investment.

If you have no land (because you’re dumb enough to still live in the heart of darkness that is every city), you need to learn how to grow potatoes in 5 gallon buckets. Just get some dirt from the side of the road (if you live east of the Mississippi, that is) and even that can work in a pinch.

Good Idea. When I was extremely poor for a bit my diet consisted probably 60% of potatoes lol.

FunFact: humans can live on a 100% potato and butter diet.

Cannibalism... Easier on the knees.

This article gave me some pointers, it seems in times like this, the metals don’t have much value in the immediate time. Definitely lots of dried foods, water, cash and ammo will put you ahead of many. https://archive.vn/YkN2v

Water... Better have a big ass garden and know how to preserve it. I like protein, rabbits or quail and chickens would be good but you still got to feed them.

I guess it depends of how bad a scenario it would be. Given the right circumstances you could hunt quite a bit of things out of season and without a permit.

You and everybody else.

You'd be surprised how many people wouldn't be able to hunt efficiently. Mostly city dwellers I'd imagine. I wonder if their behavior out of a city would be like a plague of locusts on the surrounding countryside?

Probably, hence the gun advocacy.

I don't eat fruits or vegetables

I was also thinking about Walmart and there addition of beyond meat. If plant based alternatives to meat are cheaper, and become accepted by consumers, the market could very well dictate what we have access too.

Weird how little control we actually have over things lol.

It's not the market dictating that anymore.

True. But as of right now their power is in perception. I guess unless bill gates does something really evil with all that farmland lol.

Personally, I moved out of the city already. Now I have a well, septic, fuel-oil, propane and will be adding a wood stove. I have a small backup generator I backfeed into my home with 3 weeks of fuel. I'm building a green house and a large garden. I haven't decided if I want to raise chickens yet.

Who thought we'd need to do all of this due to tyrannical despots. I thought nuclear war would be the problem.

Chickens are a must lol, complete animal protein every day, you can sell/trade the surplus. IIRC chickens will eat a lot of shit and not just feed grain.

EDIT: congrats on the move man!

You want to raise chickens.

"I want to raise chickens."

LOL... These aren't the droids you're looking for.
