Even during this insanity it’s been shown peoples behaviour responds a lot more strongly to reported case numbers, deaths etc. than government instructions. Now obviously placing such trust in the media rather than the government isn’t exactly a giant leap forward, but it does demonstrate what you say - people will respond to the perceived threat all by themselves, they don’t need diktats and don’t necessarily respond that well to them either.
Yep. I am perfectly capable of examining threats and determining my level of risk, and taking what precautions - if any - I feel are appropriate.
I do not need nor want the government telling me how to respond.
