I use to be able to use a private anonymous instagram account to follow accounts that I like. Now I can't even do that, instagram wants me to connect a phone number and send them a picture of me with my name written on a paper. I just want to remain anonymous on the Internet. Is that so hard? There's really no alternatives to big tech like Instagram, Facebook, Microsoft when you really think about it. Just a matter of time when your online persona becomes your real identity.

Microsoft is less and less relevant every day. I have successfully banished them from my life with Linux and LibreOffice and you should too.
The real concern is that this is a broad coalition of several of the tech giants. Intel and Adobe being on board is far more concerning.
