Current gov programs aren't too far off from your idea. It would be very easy for the fed to wipe out interest on the loans that exist right now. My1st complaint is that private industry is making a profit from government backed loans. The government is taking on all the risk so that private industry can make money? Sound like a scam??? At a very minimum they should take away interest payments.
