How was it more advanced? SR 71 was faster coming in at mach 3.2 @ 85000 feet. Avro arrow was around mach 2 at 50000 feet. Im not trying to be a cunt, Im just asking.

It's first flight was 1958. 5 years prior. So if development would have continued it would have absolutely dwarfed the SR 71 in height/speeds.

> Prime Minister of Canada John Diefenbaker abruptly halted the development of both the Arrow and its Iroquois engines before the scheduled project review to evaluate the program could be held.[4] Canada tried to sell the Arrow to the US and Britain, but no agreements were concluded Two months later the assembly line, tooling, plans, existing airframes, and engines were ordered to be destroyed.

Wtf?

I'm going to try and find the story but an exact prototype washed up on the shore of one of the Great Lakes. The person who found it had to give it to either government or army (air force probably) for it to be destroyed. (I was wrong it was donated to a museum)
