Apparently we arent allowed to promote the most normal and natural food for infants anymore because their mothers may choose not to vaccinate. Calling it what it is (natural) could lead to such dangerous ideas as "skepticism" and "desire for knowledge" the horror!!

Thanks (((AAP))) for clearing that up.

The worst thing about this is the number of women who refuse to breastfeed because they view their breasts as sexual objects only. In mothers groups (~10 years ago, it's possibly different now) there is a lot of eggshell walking when talking about breastfeeding, and the women who don't do it feel like they're being looked down upon and criticized. So many considerations are made to make sure those mothers who don't breastfeed aren't feeling down about their choices.

It's all so absurd. Picking to poison your child over feeding it naturally should be looked down upon and discouraged.

It really is a minefield. Some women can't breastfed for various reasons, but the vast majority can. The problem is that most women who fail to breastfeed feel an actual form of grief, so we create these fluffy campaigns luke "fed is best" to try and ease their sadness and pain.

Its a problem because most babies SHOULD be breastfed and theres no reason why not if the woman has no medical issues that prevent it. Medical staff in maternity havent got a clue though and in America in particular they just push bottles on women who are still learning to bf and have difficulty, because of the focus on "fed is best". Choosing to bottle feed from day 1 is absurd and detrimental to your child and I wont tiptoe around that. I am extremely pro breast feeding and wont apologise to the bottle mums who just "didnt want to". I will however save some compassion for the women who were let down or couldnt physically produce.
