That wasnt an explosion, though the energy release might have been the same, eventually, it was a naturally occurring "nuclear reactor" somewhere in africa, i think uranium was in enough quantities and dense enough to start to fission, It been years since ive read about it but it's pretty interesting if anyone cares to look it up.
