That BOB is pretty similar to the one I have... mine supports a full-size SD card and has the full pinout (both the SD card mode and SPI mode pins).
That one would work just fine for my project even though it doesn't have the full pinout, because it has the SPI mode pins and that's how I'm using it.
I think I'll pick up a couple of those, I don't think I'll ever use the SD card mode pins. I did manage to find the full SD card spec document a long time ago which describes that mode, if I ever wanted to head down that road. AFAIK the main difference between the SPI mode and SD mode is the speed.
Full size SD card, ok. Those are getting somewhat rare these days as uSD takes over.
I watch a number of feeds with stuff of that nature, if I run across something that may work for you I'll let you know.
The particular project only needs a handful of MB, and I've got a bunch of 256 MB and 512 MB full size SD cards that are perfect size for such a thing, that I want to make use of. Don't know how many of these things I'll actually make, depends on how many of a particular vintage IC I can get ahold of.
