This is a bit misleading. This is the funeral for Polish statesman Józef Piłsudski who died in 1935. Adolf Hitler ordered a funerary mass for him, as he respected him and his work. Probably the first and last time Hitler attended a mass as Fuehrer.

Heil Hitler

If Piłsudski had lived only a few more years WW2 probably would have never happened. Or at least it wouldn't have played out as it did. Would have been Germany and Poland vs. Russia.

Hitler was an unapologetic atheist (privately and almost later in his life) who used religion as a tool to control the German people. He was very open about how stupid he thought the theists were but he constantly used religion as a tool to manipulate people and stay in favor with a populist view.

Hitler even despised the catholic church but required Goebbels to stay a participating member for tactical reasons:

"[Hitler] forbids me to leave the church. For tactical reasons."

This is probably the most poignant point about Hitler being a definitive atheist who reads no differently than a modern atheist:

"The dogma of Christianity gets worn away before the advances of science. Religion will have to make more and more concessions. Gradually the myths crumble. All that's left is to prove that in nature there is no frontier between the organic and the inorganic. When understanding of the universe has become widespread, when the majority of men know that the stars are not sources of light but worlds, perhaps inhabited worlds like ours, then the Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity."

Otto Strasser correctly identified Hitler as an atheist as far back as 1920. "We are Christians; without Christianity Europe is lost. Hitler is an atheist." Strasser was a member of the early Nazi Party and had dealings with Hitler in private. Remember, there was public Hitler who would say anything to persuade the German Public to take power. And then there was the real Hitler who kept his anti-theist and anti-Christian thoughts to himself. Do you think the German people would have tolerate an outright atheist? Hitler would have never risen to power if he was open about his beliefs. Ernst Hanfstaengl in his memoir about this relationship with Hitler said, "He was to all intents and purposes an atheist by the time."

Hitler used religion up to the very end. After the 1944 assassination attempt on Hitler, Hitler credited his surviving the assassination attempt as part of a divine power. Implying God saved him. More manipulation of the religious Germans.

Nothing wrong with populist rhetoric in the realm of democratic politics, you need to be smart with the masses. You paint him as a malicious manipulator but forget that all politics is but sweet lies. That's why he smashed the democratic disunity and banished all other parties, I'd be sickened with having to lie to the people en mass too.

Hitler still was very much 'spiritual', and spoke of 'Providence instead of any God. He likely dabbled in esoteric beliefs of many types but nobody knows for sure. A secret he took to the Fuehrerbunker (or Argentina).

You paint him as a malicious manipulator

That's your interpretation of the facts, not my words. I am simply pointing him out as a manipulator of the masses to gain and maintain support like ALL successful politicians have done and will continue to do.

Hitler still was very much 'spiritual', and spoke of 'Providence instead of any God.

That was public Hitler. Private Hitler was a staunch atheist and that evidence goes back as far as 1920, as cited above. He most certainly made it clear that he did not believe in the Divine, Providence, God, etc. Those were public statements he made to maintain support with the majority Christian German population.

He likely dabbled in esoteric beliefs of many types but nobody knows for sure. A secret he took to the Fuehrerbunker (or Argentina).

He did not. He mocked Himmler for Himmler's pursuit of the spiritual and occult, outright calling him names for it, publicly.

Based Hitler. Religion is poison. A philosophy is all you need.
