My wife and I were going through an old scrapbook from her family that we found and there was pic related. As far as we know this image was never published anywhere so this makes it VERY rare.

Enjoy.

Who was he to be standing there to be able to take that pic? Clearly not a random bystander

University Professor according to the Mrs. Also the family was well known there and had a street named after them so he might have been in the local Government.

Imagine my surprise when we were flipping through the book and that little gem popped up!

Description is under the title but you can't see it unless you highlight the text. Can that be fixed?

Amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Look at all the flags and swastikas already up. If we were in the same spot I would readily put some up. The people were obviously happy they are there.

He also took pictures of hanged Men so I'm sure it wasn't all that great, on the other hand the pictures of the city after the Red Army marched through made nobody there happy. Opava (Czechoslovakia) was practically destroyed by the artillery etc.

I’m sure every place they took over had enemies. But the general consensus is most places were happy to see them. As opposed to when the Russians came and killed and raped.

The Czechs are quite used to welcoming invaders, this country has 4 current National Holidays related to independence.

Freedom from the Austrians.

Freedom from Germany

Freedom from the USSR

and freedom from the Slovaks

It seems that every time they get a newcomer they (eventually) get another holiday. Still, I like this country and the people who live here.

That's Goering with him, holding his Field Marshall Baton.

I was wondering who that was!
