I think you can buy them. These are a collection my Dad put together from old letters from my Grandparents and other family.
I know a couple of antique/coin dealers that do not have any German war era items publicly listed for sale because they do not want a bunch of untermensch neo-nazis knocking on their door. They only sell to friends and other dealers.
