No really, large harddrives, huge amounts of ram, etc.. they are all great but it has made programmers lazy.

I do miss the days where the constraints of computing forced programmers to really know their shit, think extremely creatively and optimize the fuck out of their code. I still remember upgrading my HDD from a 40 MB Western Digital to an 80 MB Quantum and thinking I wouldn't be filling that drive for years to come. Nowadays a single potato-quality video file can eat the entire drive. We really did become lazy and reliant on ever increasing resource growth. We need to go back.
Hah, yeah. I remember my first 20GB HDD (previously had smaller drives like in the 500mb range). I thought I would never be able to fill it. Then napster came out.....
I remember some video about a playstation (?) game where it did some realllly weird shit to push the 3D capabilities beyond what the engineers intended, by reallocating some space and bandwidth onboard the playstation console itself. Do you remember watching that by chance?

I'm not familiar with that specific instance of game developer creativity, but I know the early game industry was full of very out-of-the-box thinking and amazing coding due to the limitations of the hardware. Nearly every game console and home computer back then had shining examples of programmers who really pushed the hardware to the edge in order to make better games. Those guys were some of the best and brightest programmers to ever live but now we have troons, faggots, pajeets and blue-haired harpies ruining games and software development in general. We need to flush this toilet and get that shit down the drain where it belongs. Make programming White men again.
