Dental insurance is the only thing I keep because what I pay generally evens out to preventative cleanings, x-rays, and other minor things through the year. I don't have any other insurance because what's offered to me is not worth the price paid - it's essentially a love letter to Aetna and the president's 287th gold-plated yacht.

Last time I was in the dentists office, I was asked to update any information. Couple of questions, yes address is still the same, I don't know if the phone number is right and I don't care because I block everything and everyone, you can send to that email if you want but it's got a really aggressive spam filter and it will can you, etc...

I was asked if I have medical insurance. No, same as last time.

"Oh, I think you do, you just don't know it."

Um, I think I'd know if I was paying nearly 200 a month for nothing. That would be pretty obvious in my paycheck, don't you think?

"Uh....oh it's opt in then?"

When has any insurance provided by a company ever not been 'opt-in'?

The absolute look of utter stupidity on this person's face. Fortunately, this was just a low-level hygenist and have nothing to do with the dentists themselves, who are very good at what they do.

What is the matter with people? They must not even have the capacity to think about things around them. Bread and circuses, I guess.

They must not even have the capacity to think about things around them.

Even the one's that can, don't; herein lies the issue with current society.

I'm rebuilding an old electronic device right now, I must be using an excess of thought.

It is virtually impossible to fire an incompetent doctor. As long as he/she follows the system, a system which rewards never thinking outside the box.

The joy of dealing with DEI.

No DEI in this office, that's what makes it even worse. All white women. But then again, that's it's own problem.

fellow White women

I was about to ask if it was an all women office. Those are just as bad as a niggers or streetshitter sprinkled around.

I don't know that I trust anyone these days, not even myself.

Birds don't have teeth.

But yes - they are really that stupid. And if they aren't, their staff makes up for it - and vice versa. I've had the recent displeasure of having some major dental excavation completed. The oral surgeon is good - knows his shit about his profession. Clueless about everything else though. Has a couple good office staff that make it work for him thankfully, because there's no way he could make that work otherwise.

"Uh....oh it's opt in then?"

There are no stupid questions. Hygenist, "hold my beer".

I recently changed dentists because they would not eat the cost of an x-ray. I told them, I only consent to x-rays my insurance covers. My teeth are healthy I'm grown, idk wtf need all these x-rays for other than to pad bills. Insurance agrees and they have a schedule of when they will be covered. So anyway they did one that insurance did not cover and I got a bill. I told them they need to get it off my account or they are losing my business. They chose the latter.

Normally you get one set of x-ray per year, they knew it wouldn't be paid. So yeah, they wanted more of your money.

Do engineers count?

Medical doctors in particular, although I've met some PhD people that didn't have the common sense of a cutting board.

A guy I know, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at a large university. The power went out at his apartment building one day and he ended up stuck inside because he couldn't figure out how to operate the manual override on the garage door to get out.

He's reasonably smart, does a bunch of shit related to designing fighter jets or something, but he has the common sense of a worm.

Medical doctors disgust me now. They are lickspittle coward rule followers who would happily euthanize you without your consent if that was what the checklist said to do. Bunch of spineless cowards, I'd rather spend the afternoon with politicians and used car salesmen than medical doctors.

That's pretty bad...the long red string with the red handle and a tag that says "FOR USE IN EMERGENCIES" on it?

I've known others that couldn't find that while staring at it, so...yeah...
