I was talking to my gf, i decided to mention it ( i really shouldn't have honestly), and her parents were implying to her i was some kind of crazed lunatic psycho, and i must be hiding something, because no one changes their name because reasons. The thing is I came from a very broken family, with lots of abuse and credit card fraud, loan fraud, identity fraud, etc, so at the time I thought a name change would be best for me. However, per her words, its not sitting well with her, not enough to break up with me or anything, it just freaks her our because I'm assuming she's watched one too many hollywood movies where clearly changing name = I must b a specops ghost
