More trivia:

110 volts @ 60 hz is standard here in the US.

Why?

Because, the street lights at the time worked best at that voltage and they stopped flickering at 60 hz.

Wanna know why we bumped up to 115v, and now 120v? It's so we can make the street lights brighter without replacing all the bulbs.

I have heard that 60 hz is also induces theta waves in our brain, a dream-state which make us more suggestible to the television ads broadcast at this frequency.
