After 2-3 days, the hunger pain goes away and it becomes much easier when your body says "fuck it, no food it coming, time to burn some fat stores for fuel". The easiest way to get rid of the last few pounds people complai about. Also, it corrects your sense of taste when you don't have any sugar / junk food. You taste sweetess in things like almonds and really understand why we "don flava" our food.

Fasting brings many health benefits too. Including clarity of thought.

I did OMAD for 4 years with monthly 48 and quarterly 72 hr fasts. 96 was as far as I've taken it. Not being tied to a ghrelin/insulin clock is freedom on an epic scale. As I age, I have discovered that my body now performs better with my protein intake spread across a 6 - 8ish hr window. Still do the monthly 48s and 72s, though. Autophagy is the biggest metabolic benefit of fasting as it clears the cells of detritus and boosts the ever loving shit outta mitochondria to power things along. The mental clarity that NoisySilence identified is an added bonus. The cherry on top is the endorphin burts that flood your system starting around the 36-48 zone. Make it to 72 and your gut will kick stem cell production into overdrive to help cure what ails ya. The mental, physical and spiritual discipline employed to embrace fasting pays dividends across all aspects of life.

Notice i left out any religious connotation. B/c i honestly think fasting is good for people in general and the soul.
