If someone needs permission to lead they are not a leader. I know things weren't as cut and dry, he made the mistake of using existing systems for efficiency without acknowledging just how useless they are.

He was insulated by the state from day one. The people who got him elected were ejected. I don't disagree that a true leader, leads. However, the way the USA is setup, having 1/3 the power really isn't enough to lead you far from status quo...by design, if I'm not mistaken.
