A more experienced person would take the whole car because if the car that's registered to them became disabled, they're fucked.
If they took someone else's car and wrecked it, that's not a huge problem. They could grab another one or hop out on foot and they have no connection to that vehicle.
The problem with stealing the whole car is that the owner will notice it's missing pretty quickly.
The idea would be to get rid of it as soon as possible. Even if the worst did happen, they still have no way of identifying unless physically captured.
Cleanest thing would be to get it to someone who can make it disappear and make money off of that as well.
In some situations it would make more sense to dump it near a wooded area and torch the inside, taking into account aerial surveillance.
The n s&a can assist with sat imagery so disappear, change appearance, come out the other side. Not as easy as it used to be. lol
Underground parking garage at any major shopping center during business hours. I've seen felony pursuits end with no capture several times this way.
