The father of a Missouri teen who died after plunging from an Orlando amusement park ride in March said his son’s death is being “swept under the rug” by park operators because he is black.

Speaking at a press conference in front of the Free Fall attraction at ICON Park Monday, Yarnell Sampson said his family has not been treated respectfully in the wake of his passing.

“I don’t want to use the race thing,” he said. “But I believe that because my son is a black young man he is getting treated like this. I believe it was a European child it would have been different.”

I don't want to use the race thing but I'm going to use the race thing. Forget about the fact that my son was morbidly obese and I'm a bad parent. No one cares because he was black.

Upon reading the article and searching for his weight I think that park is fucked. He weighed 383 pounds apparently and was 100 pounds over the limit. Park staff didn't properly secure him and let him on the ride anyway = https://archive.ph/CMS3o “Um, I’m not sure. They’re saying he’s breathing, but he’s not responsive. Looks like his arms are broken and his legs,” the caller claimed, according to an audio recording reviewed by The Post. “I don’t know from where he fell. They [ICON park staff] didn’t secure the seatbelt on him.”

We'll see how this turns out but if true the park is responsible for the stupidity of their employees, who were probably nogs anyway but that won't matter legally. Funny thing is this would have been much more likely to slip through the cracks if he had been white.

What kind of backward parents call their fat niglet, "Tyre"?

Was there a shortage of "Tyrone De La Precious" name stamps that week?

Amusement rides are ALWAYS swept under the rug. That's SOP. Every major (and minor) amusement park has had a death in the last 5-10 years. And, injuries are FAR more common.

It's the Fightclub business model: So long as revenue exceeds (insurance premiums + cash payouts), it's a good business model.

I'm old enough to have been to Action (Tractio) Park in New Jersey. There would be an injury almost every day.
