I started this sub to share, gather and explore new & old ideas related to the full-time RV living experience.

I started over a year ago after retiring from the business I had for over 25 year. My wife and I sold, gave away and donated most of our worthless worldly possessions, bought a lightly used RV (5th wheel) a great used pull vehicle and hit the road. So far the adventure has been 90% positive.

I would like to invite any and all people to join in, ask questions or share their experiences in this unique and growing lifestyle.

Not sure where we're going to camp. By buddy and his wife live north of Phoenix and we're going meet up with them in their RV. I'm sure he's got a great spot to go to.

My neck of the woods.

Next winter? You are not going "camping" where I am.

We left Minnesota on December 13th this year. It's 13° where we're at now. Luckily our RV is somewhat set up for it. The cold still sucks!! It's seams to be a bit more intense this winter.

13?

How much propane do you use? I found a trick that reduces how much I use at night. I turn the thermostat down to about 60, close my bedroom and bathroom door except the bathroom door to the bedroom.

Bathroom and bedroom have vents so both heat the bedroom at night.

Placed a cheap box-fan at the rear pushing the air forward and up. This keeps the air temp up high and low at 60. With out the fan, the thermostat will not cycle in a way that keeps the bedroom at 70-ish. It would go way up and then down.

Thinking about it, I have not seen a nice place to camp anywhere close to the valley. It's all open desert. Go about an hour north and you will find tall trees, national forest and much better places to camp.

This is what you will find an hour north of the valley - up hwy 87 (google.com)

This is where I go camping. Not far at all from the link above. (google.com)

Thanks for the tips. I'll forward to my buddy. Isn't Northern AZ the best place on earth?
