Where I grew up, the only thing on OTA TV when I got home from school was CBN (700 Club news) and soap operas. Obviously, CBN was the better choice. I remember him talking about the gay agenda, gay lobby, and how powerful they were. I thought he was an idiot, but it turns out he was ahead of his time on that. He was pointing out the woke agenda decades before it came to pass.
That being said, he also used his charity (Operation Blessing) to transport diamond mining equipment. He was also able to get a senator from another state to approve a federally funded highway exit greatly increasing the property value of one of his developments. The local DOT and senators all said they didn't want funds to go to it, but yet somehow it was approved.
There were lots of rumors known by locals about his corrupting influence. At one point the majority of the local city council had graduated from regent university.
He was on my folks TV a lot over the years. I was unaware of any of his alleged improprieties. I thought he was a decent guy, and yes, clued us in on many of the unseen (at that time) evils of the world.
