"Only the weak blame parents, their race, their times, lack of good fortune, or the quirks of fate. Everyone has it within his power to say, this I am today, that I shall be tomorrow. The wish, however, must be implemented by deeds."

Just pulled this out of his epic novel The Walking Drum.

I highly recommend Louis L'Amour and have learned so much from his novels.

Man was an amazing writer. One of the best selling writers of all time, right up there with Agatha Christie and Stephen King. His novels are the bare minimum to get published as a book -- about 120 pages. He did the minimum work for the maximum profit, and he got hailed as an artist in the process. And what a work ethic! Over a hundred novels, that amazingly are not trash.

Stephen King is not a good writer, his books are sophomoric drivel. That’s why he sells so many. Most Americans are lazy and ineffectual readers.

And Christie is hard to read because she uses a lot of language that was common then but not today

Good book. Easy to read, decent story, straightforward characters. Mem were men and women were women.

Hos books are great, but once in awhile he gives away his ignorance of American geography.
