When the people elect governments in free and fair elections, the people get what they vote for. They don't always get what they want, since most politicians make false promises they have no intention of even trying to fulfill. But they get what they voted for, and therefore can't really complain too much.

The trouble is, increasingly over the past fifty years elections have not been free or fair. Politicians are bought and paid for even before they take office (Obama, for example). They sell their office for personal wealth (Biden, Hillary, Pelosi). Elections are corrupted and rigged. The media bias makes it almost impossible for the candidate they opposite to even get his message to the people.

Even so, we occasionally get honorable people in government, who work for the greater good of those who voted for them, and even those who did not vote for them. Trump is such a case. He didn't need to run for the presidency. He did it to serve his country, because he saw that he was needed. Rand Paul is another good, though much less effective, politician.

What we as voters need to do is insure that the election process is honest and fair all the way through, from first declarations to the counting of the votes. We need to give the people the chance to pick their own representatives. This means getting rid of the crooks and parasites and traitors. Capitol Hill needs a good engine flush to wash out the old carbon buildup.
