Problem with emotions is that they tend to make you take irrational decisions, it can eventually make you lose discernment, and your calm, control. Sometimes it's of no serious consequences, sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes not
It's better to kill or to die without emotions getting involved, it's better to fight without emotions kicking in
Emotions behave pretty much like energy, it can be a source of strength, it can also overload the system and burn it. The bigger the charge, emotional or otherwise, the stronger the system, the canalization, the control, has to be, or else...
At the same time negating emotions altogether while it works, more or less efficiently depending on the individual of course, it's not the way because it can't be the way, because emotions are there for a reason and it's not to be just ignored, it's to be used. Emotions are a literal potential, a source of strength as I've already stated, and that's also what GLR implies.
So in the end when the emotion comes, you have to be able to tell it "I know", and stay cold, focused. It's when the unplanned/unknown comes into play that this management tends to become unreliable, except if you have a deep seated conviction, allowing you to say "I know", even during those uncertain times
Faith I guess
