A God that creates and then does not ever interact with His creation, even to provide the Act necessary to redeem His creatures if they fall?

That is my understanding of the Deist position: a clock maker who "sets the gears turning" and then steps aside. I am not a Deist. I affirm unabashedly that God absolutely does interact with His creation. I am a theist, not a Deist.
