For the average person who's full extent of power culminates in driving a car to work and paying taxes, it makes absolutely no sense trying to consider how the mind of a murderer or rapist or corrupt politician works. They have no clue how their mind works or the extent of the power they wield. Trying to explain things to people who aren't willing to kill, or haven't seen extreme violence takes a lot of patience.
