As a pet, definitely. If you're more into meat/eggs, get coturnix.

Another poaler got some this week. No easier way to fill your freezer on the cheap! Plus, https://poal.co/s/Quail/258851

As it stands now, we have really enjoyed our ducks the most. Still laying consistently, better eggs than the chickens, And they are delicious. Duck curry or Chile verde duck tacos are delightful. We enjoy the richer and fattier meat, will never raise meat chickens again.

Plus, they’re just fun.

You're not wrong, there. Our ducks outperform the chickens. I'll actually probably eat our few chickens this spring. I have a post on how I cross Cayuga x Khaki to get sex-linked offspring. This lets me get prolific egg layers and meaty drakes.

I've fed people duck roast in the slow cooker with carrots and potatoes without them knowing it wasn't beef.

And yes, ducks are way cooler in the yard than chickens.

Interesting cross. We have a Buff that we crossed, she is the biggest of ours, outperforms all the others including Cornish cross chickens, Pekins and Swedish for size, growth, eggs, and temperament. Pretty too. Would recommend.

We really enjoyed hatching as well.
