My cayuga's aren't the fastest growers compared to pekins, but they are meaty. Really, you could pick any breed you think looks cool and incubate. Runners are funny, but skittish. If you just want them to mother their own eggs, check out swedish blue or buffs. Or, muscovies. They're the weirdo south american cousins of the ducks we're used to. Big meaty bastards, but they look weird and don't make noise. Good moms, ok eggs, and a ton of breast meat. Part of the whole experience is watching them fart around in the yard acting retarded.
