I don't do this shit for a living, so I'm just spitballing. You sound defensive. Who's alt are you? ;) There's always a way to do things better, that's my philosophy for everything in life. If what I do is hacky and full of problems, I look for solutions rather than workarounds. That's just who I am. Maybe I should help with the testing more often. *shrug emoticon*
I don't do IT stuff, but the SW I deal with can appear very robust, and then the littlest hiccup/noise/change causes a failure. Throw in hundreds of users hitting the servers all at once, and who knows what is going to break. Also, when a site is done for a while, I suspect there's a traffic spike when it comes back up. Normally, people come and go, stop and read, post, etc. Imagine all those people with pent up emotions and news all wanting to post at the same time.
Anyway, my $0.02, for what it's worth.
I'm not really busting his chops. Simply trying to use the experience as a learning opportunity, if not for voat, but for myself: if I happen to find myself in such a predicament, in the future. Sometimes, people need to stop patting themselves on the back and ask: "but how can we do this better, next time?" Especially if the outcome of our efforts is average, at best. I'm just spit-balling the things that most people don't want to hear because their egos would get hurt. Don't have time to walk on egg-shells, ya know.
Sorry if I misrepresented my views. I am not defending anything. As long as any of these sites allow me to follow my limited interests I am a happy camper. I realize there are significant things happening in the world, again, but I've served my time in the trenches decades ago.
I am impressed with the efforts of PMYB2, AOU, and Putt, and recognize they are doing what they do out of a passion for free speech. It is indeed an honorable pursuit.
