UPDATE: Someone on another board replied to my post and said there was a soccer match at Q2 stadium in NW Austin, TX at 7:30pm CT on 6/24 and that these planes may have been in some type of military plane fly-over at the game. I didn't find anything indicating that any fighter jets flew over the Q2 arena as part of the fanfare of the game, but I did confirm that there was a game held there on 6/24: https://www.austinfc.com/competitions/mls-regular-season/2023/matches/atxvshou-06-24-2023/

What's weird is, even if these planes were involved in a fly-over at that game, why were 2 fighter jets flying due south towards Austin at 8:40pm CT (over an hour after the game started)? The loudest & fastest fighter jet I heard was at 8:20pm CT (heading north and I saw it 20 miles away from the Q2 stadium) and a pair of fighter jets were also circling around the area 20-30 miles north of Austin at 8:30pm CT on 6/24 as well.

Sat-6/24/23: I saw 3 passes of fighter jets (the first one may have made a sonic boom - or close to it) flying overhead approx. 20 miles north of Austin, TX between 8:20pm - 8:40pm Central Time. I took 2 videos of fighter jet pairs (the first fighter vanished before I could even pull over to get a shot of it).

At 8:20pm Central Time on Sat-6/24/23, I was outside in my car and saw a single fighter jet fly by that was CRAZY loud, hauling A$$ heading in a W/NW direction and it may have made a 'sonic boom' (or at least close to it). I couldn't pull over to try and get a pic because it vanished from view before I could even stop my car. A friend who lives about 7 miles away confirmed she heard that plane's roar/boom from INSIDE her house too.

At 8:40pm CT on Sat-6/24/23, a pair of fighter jets that were flying pretty low and fast went RIGHT over my car and I was looking straight up at the jets. These were approaching from the north and heading south towards Austin, TX (this is the better of my 2 videos):

At 8:30pm CT on Sat-6/24/23 (about 10 minutes after the sonic boom-ish crazy loud fighter jet bolted across the sky heading W/NW and 10 minutes prior to the quite loud pair flying fast and pretty low heading south), there were 2 fighter jets circling the whole area, flying pretty low in the sky and not as fast. (This video was shot from farther away - sorry, it's not zoomed in very tight):

They're not hauling ass and certainly not going supersonic. This is a pretty normal looking flight if you've ever lived near a fighter town. It's about what you would get from a Blue Angels show from the two soloists. Hardly seems like anything special that calls for alarm or concern.

Completely agree, the "pair of fighter jets that were flying pretty low and fast" were really not going fast at all. Just cruisin along.

Also, there is no such thing as an "almost" sonic boom.

There was a widely reported sonic boom over Austin, TX in Feb. 2023, which I heard, but i was INSIDE my home at the time. I was outside when this fighter jet flew past today, and it was much louder since i was outdoors, but it had the same type of sound as the sonic boom reported in Austin in Feb. 2023.

Since I can't really compare the 2 sounds b/c I was outside during one and inside during another, I'm only speculating that they both could have been sonic booms. I don't know for sure because I have no way to measure it - I'm only basing it on a friend who heard both of the sounds (the Feb. 2023 sonic boom and today's sound) from inside her home.

As I stated in my post, the fighter jet that was hauling ass and was crazy loud disappeared in the blink of an eye and I didn't get a pic/video of that one. The low-flying pair of jets that flew right over my car were going pretty fast, but nowhere near as fast as the first one that my friend and I both thought sounded more like a sonic boom.

I've lived in this area for over a decade and have only ONCE prior seen/heard fighter jets this loud (a sonic boom was widely reported in Feb. 2023 over Austin, TX) and I have never seen them flying this low as the ones that flew over my car (first video).

What event would cause concern?

Seeing armed foreign nation jet fighters should raise your eyebrows.

I feel like that would just confirm my Apocalyptic Faith

Bear in mind that military reserve units go active for two weeks in the summer. There are a lot of pilots in the reserves...

That could be it. Today, I spoke to 2 more people who live around me and both of them heard the jets on Sat-6/24 and both were very alarmed by them as well.

One of these friends who used to live in Killeen, TX where there's a military base (60 miles north of Austin) said he's very used to the sound of military planes flying overhead, but never in the Austin metro. He said that the fighter jets on 6/24 were so loud and low that he thought it was a plane going down and said he was waiting to hear the explosion of a plane crash after it flew overhead. Coming from someone who used to live right next to an Army base, that speaks volumes, IMO.

I always used to say when someone called with a noise complaint: Did they have Russian markings? (Answer: No they were American) My Response: Your welcome.
