There is a lot of truth to this statement. The 10 that should not be there are the political ranks that have no leadership capability and should not be commanding men but are there because who they know. Many die because of them. John McCann comes to mind because of him many die on board the air craft carrier USS Forestrall ,he served on. When he caused a fire taking off in a wet start How convenient Google cleans up the story with a false checkmark. The 27 men who died and the 100 injured know better. If it was not for his father who was an admiral he would of been in prison not serving the Senate. The targets are the ones who have no battle experience and the first time they taste war will find themselves killed wounded or in total confusion. Many on D-DAY were these poor soles. If they survive they may developed into the minority. The nine who do all the fighting carry the 80. They are the ones Patton calls the winners without these men the battle is lost. The one true warrior is rare. I quote Stonewall Jackson who had no fear in battle. He said " I am as comfortable in battle as if I was in bed because I know the date, time and place of death has already been chosen by God. I can do nothing about it" Cannon fire all around him he lead the confederacy to victory. If he were alive at Gettysburg they would of had the high ground and the Confederate flag would still be flying in the south. The true warrior men will be followed willingly in battle by all. Paton was followed by his men.

Don’t know the exact person but every swinging dick that has ever been in combat knows it to be true.

I don't know but seeing as I'm a surviving combat vet I can completely agree with this statement.

That is part of the nine. The warrior is the one with ice water in his veins that never misses.

Just a guess, sounds like something Colonel David Hackworth may have said.

Do you know Uncle Hack?

Just through his writings and public appearances.

His quote about the "perfumed princes" at the Pentagon still makes me chuckle.
