I noticed that too, so most likely Paul opened the door then moved to hold the hammer, suggesting of course it was all staged. People commenting on twitter were delusionaly suggesting that he was "talking" down the situation as any rational hostage would.... right like an assailant would allow the hostage taker to grab the hammer in front of the police. Stupid!
